This is a playful, funny story about a hat being blown about by the wind. Who does the hat belong to? All the animals try the hat on until it is finally retrieved by a little girl with a matching dress. Young children will love to join in with the repetitive text and the animal sounds.

Kuwi’s Huhu Hunt. Kat Merewether
Kuwi the Kiwi takes Huwi on his first huhu hunt, however Huhi is a very fussy chick and is not interested in huhu hummus, weta wontons, snail sushi, moth mince and other delicious delicacies! This is a fun story to read aloud with delightful, bright illustrations. It is a sequel to Kuwi’s Egg.

Stick Dog wants a Hot Dog. Tom Watson
In this hilarious sequel to Stick Dog, Stick Dog and his greedy friends set out to pull off a master plan and get a hot dog to eat. They manage to dodge a dognapping and outwit a racoon and will definitely make you laugh out loud! Ethan Long’s stick-figure- style drawings add humour to the story. This is a good story for early and reluctant readers.

Eve and the Runaway Unicorn. Jess Black
This is the first book in the adventure fantasy series, Keeper of the Crystals.
When friends Eve and Oscar explore Gran’s attic they find a crystal figurine of a unicorn. The crystal magically transports the children to the strange land of Panthor, where an evil king has complete control of every living being. This story, filled with magic and adventure, also has a strong environmental theme. The story has lots of action and would be enjoyed by both boys and girls.
