Jealous Saboteurs: Teen Writing Competition

Create a piece of writing inspired by Francis Upritchard’s exhibition, Jealous Saboteurs at Dunedin Public Art Gallery.

The exhibition opens on Saturday 12th August 2017 and runs until 26th November 2017. Visit the exhibition and enter the competition.

You can enter online, download a copy of the entry form and T&Cs or pick up a copy from the Art Gallery or any Dunedin Public Library.

These will be available from 12th August to coincide with the opening of the exhibition.

Return your completed entry form with a copy of your written piece (max 750 words)  to any Dunedin Public Library, the Dunedin Public Art Gallery, or enter online.

Entry is restricted to high school students in years 9 to 13, and there are prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd-place winners.

The competition will be judged by Dunedin writer, David Eggleton and Kings High School Librarian, Bridget Schaumann.

Closing date for entries is Saturday 28 October 5pm.

Winners notified: Wednesday 15th November

Prize-giving: Sunday 3rd December, 12 noon

WORKSHOP

There are limited places for young writers to take part in a workshop to guide them in preparing for the competition. The workshop, run by Dunedin writer Sue Wooton, will include a visit to Dunedin Public Art Gallery to preview the exhibition, followed by a two-hour tutorial at City Library, where students will be taken through ideas and planning to enable them to produce a piece of writing, eligible for entry into the Jealous Saboteurs Teen Writing competition.
