LIBRARY TOURS

Dunedin Public Libraries offers themed tours on popular subjects for interested members of the public, education and community groups.

FASHION TOURS

Every year, during Dunedin’s iD Fashion Week, we host tours which highlight our wonderful fashion resources.

During these tours, you will view a showcase of items from our heritage collections, a selection of archived Vogue magazines from the 1930s onwards, and a showcase of our latest books on fashion design and designers.

The tours are also available to secondary and tertiary fashion design and textile students on request, please contact us.

ART EXHIBITION TOURS

The Dunedin Public Libraries has a fabulous collection of over 125 significant, original artworks donated over the years by many prominent local artists and businesses.

If you have a group that would like to see some of the highlights and listen to the stories behind these works, please contact us.

Alternatively, pick up a guide from any of our Libraries and wander at your own pace around a selection of the public art on display.

CITY LIBRARY ORIENTATION TOURS

During the tour we’ll show you the depth of our collections and you are sure to discover something new.

This free walking tour is approximately 50 minutes and is highly recommended.

Contact us if you would like to arrange a time to go on this tour.

SCHOOL TOURS OF THE LIBRARY

School tours of the Library are always welcome.

When booking a session, let us know what subjects you would like to cover so we can offer the most relevant tour for your class.

It’s free to become a member of the Library and some children may wish to join. We can send out membership forms in advance for completion, so children can receive their card on the day of the visit.

STACK TREK: THE UNSEEN BOOK COLLECTION

Have you ever searched for a book and the computer tells you to ask a Librarian, instead of giving you the location? Stack Treks are your chance to browse the ‘staff only’ storage in the bowels of the Dunedin City Library, and select your next book from the vast range that is otherwise out of sight.

Contact us to book your place on the next tour.

SUBJECT SPECIFIC TOURS

Would your group like a tailored tour of the City Library highlighting specific subjects and resources?

Please contact us, allowing at least one week’s notice, and we’ll customise a package for you.
