TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. By entering this competition, entrants agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of entry.
  2. The entry period commences on 13th July 2020 and closes at 5pm Monday 10th August 2020. (“Entry Period”).
  3. Judging for Adult, Young Adult and Child categories will be completed by 18th August 2020
  4. To enter, entrants must, during the Entry Period:
    1. Complete the entry form which is available at all Dunedin Public Libraries. Postal entries should be sent with a copy of your poem to:

Or           b. Enter online at www.dunedinlibraries.govt.nz/whats-on/competitions

  1. Entries must be an original poem of the entrant, must not exceed 500 words, must not have been previously published for payment, and must not infringe the copyright of any other person
  2. By submitting an entry, entrants agree and acknowledge that their name and photo may appear on www.dunedinlibraries.govt.nz and in the e-magazine NB (November 2020 issue)
  3. Entrants will send in a copy of their poem with the understanding that no entry will be returned. Due to the volume of entries we cannot acknowledge all entries to the competition. We will only make contact with competition finalists
  4. Entrants are responsible for all content submitted as part of their entry (“Content”). The Promoter shall not be liable in any way for such Content to the full extent permitted by law. Entrants warrant and agree that any Content they submit will not be offensive, unlawful or fraudulent and will not infringe any third party’s intellectual property rights
  5. Each entrant agrees to indemnify, and keep indemnified, the Promoter against all claims, demands, costs (including legal costs on a solicitor and client basis), losses, expenses and damages arising out of the Content they submit and their participation in the competition
  6. The winners of the Adult, Youth and Child prizes (“Winners”) will be announced on Friday 21st August 2020. The Promoter shall notify the winners using the phone number or email provided in each winner’s respective registration form
  7. The relevant prize will be posted to a New Zealand residential address nominated by the winner
  8. The Judge(s) for the competition will be chosen by the Promoter in its sole discretion (“Judges”). The winning entries in each category will be determined by the Judges in their sole discretion
  9. Each winner of a prize will be the entrant in whose name the winning entry was submitted. The Promoter takes no responsibility for any disputes arising in relation to the distribution of any prize
  10. Entries which are illegible, incomplete, partial or substantially damaged, reproduced or altered may be deemed invalid by the Promoter
  11. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entrant and/or refuse to award any prize if the Promoter considers (in its absolute discretion and without giving reasons) an entrant has breached any of these terms and conditions or acted in a fraudulent or otherwise dishonest manner
  12. The Promoter will not be liable in any way for its inability to receive or review an entry due to any equipment malfunction, act of God or other circumstance outside of the Promoters’ control
  13. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter will not be liable in any way for failure of receipt, loss or damage of any competition entry
  14. The Judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  15. Prizes are not transferable exchangeable or redeemable for cash
  16. The Promoter reserves the right (in its absolute discretion and without giving reasons) not to award prizes. The terms and conditions of this competition may be amended from time to time by employees of the Promoter. The Promoter reserves the right (in its absolute discretion and without giving reasons) to discontinue the competition at any stage
  17. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter will not be liable in any way (including, without limitation, in negligence) for any loss, damage or injury, (including special, indirect or consequential loss) suffered or sustained in connection with any person’s participation in this competition or in respect of any person claiming/winning/using any prize
  18. The Promoters of this competition are Dunedin Public Libraries and Otago-Southland branch of NZ Society of Authors
