City of Readers Summer Reading Programme 2019/2020

Nau mai, haere mai, tauti mai – Welcome to this year’s Summer Reading Programme which is on from the 1st December 2019 to the 31st January 2020.

How to enter:

Register at your local library and set your reading goal. Fill the booklet with details of all the books you’ve read over summer, then return it to your local library by Friday 31st January 2020 for a chance to go into the grand draw for some very cool prizes!

Challenges:

Add an extra challenge or some spice to your summer reading…

  • City of Readers Challenge” Read a book that is:
    • a true story
    • a graphic novel
    • written by a NZ author
    • a genre you don’t usually read eg. action, fantasy
    • a book that’s been made into a movie
  • “Active Challenge” Take your book along with you on an activity:
    • take it for a walk in a park
    • take it on a picnic
    • play a board game (it can watch)
    • listen to an audiobook together
    • make a recipe from a book
  • “Not Just Books Challenge” Try something different:
    • read a newspaper
    • listen to an audiobook
    • read a magazine
    • watch a movie inspired by a book
    • read the latest copy of NB
    • Do the Annie Baird Art Tour at Children’s Collections in the City Library
