The St John Ambulance Association formed in England in the Nineteenth century to meet the need for first aid knowledge in the developing industrial conditions. The Brigade developed as a group of trained volunteers to help in emergencies. The first such group formed in Dunedin in 1882. It was the first such Division formed outside England. The 125 Anniversary celebrates the work of St John and those members, past and present, who have given service in so many ways.
