FAQ

WHAT ARE YOUR RENTAL and OVERDUE FEES?

Visit our Fees and Loan Periods page for information.

WHY HAS MY BOOK BEEN CHARGED AS ‘LOST’ WHEN IT’S SIMPLY OVERDUE?

After a book has been on ‘extended loan’ (i.e. overdue) for 25 days its status automatically changes to ‘lost’.

At this point an account is generated that charges for the replacement cost of the book.

This includes a $10.00 admin fee, which covers the cost of processing (covering and barcoding) a new book.

Once the book has been returned, the cost of the replacement book and admin fee is waived, there will be no overdue to pay.

IS THERE A FEE TO RESERVE AN ITEM?

Many Libraries in New Zealand charge a reserve or hold fee. Nationwide these fees range somewhere between $0.50 – $2.00.

We charge adult members a $1.50 hold fee in order to partially recoup costs involved in processing a hold.

These costs include:

  • stationery for processing, wrapping and shelving the holds.
  • notifications sent by email, phone or mail.
  • a daily courier service to deliver on-hold items between our six Library branches.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept the following forms of payment:

  • Libraries: cash / EFTPOS / Internet banking
  • Bookbus: cash

You can pay Library charges using Internet banking or set up an automatic payment with your bank. Debt referred to a collection service cannot be paid directly to the Library, please make payment to the collection service agency.

The Library account number is 03-0905-0184000-08. Please use your Library card number after 2900100 and your name as reference when making payments.

This account can only be used to pay Library-related fees and can be paid in one payment or small automatic or regular payments.

WHAT IS THE DEBT COLLECTION SYSTEM?

Overdue accounts for $50.00 or more remaining unpaid 21 days after the final notice has been sent will be referred to a debt collection agency.

Once referred, all charges are payable to the debt collection agency and in addition, collection agencies will levy their own commission charges.
