From Monday 6th December

From Monday, 6 December, visitors aged 12 and over to our libraries and bookbuses will be required to show their vaccine pass on arrival. Visitors must also sign in and wear a face covering.

Our standard services continue and we will be starting to re-introduce our on-site public programmes. You can also check out our digital services – www.dunedinlibraries.govt.nz – Digital Library. (link to external website, new window).

We’re looking at ways to offer a contactless service and will provide information about this soon.

FAQs FOR LIBRARIES AT ORANGE TRAFFIC LIGHT SETTING

Do I have to be vaccinated to visit the library?

Yes. From Monday, 6 December, visitors aged 12 and over to Dunedin Public Libraries will be required to show their Government My Vaccine Pass on arrival.

As well as having to show vaccine passes, under the Orange setting, visitors must sanitise their hands, sign in using the NZ COVID Tracer app and wear a face covering.

We’re requiring vaccine passes because we’re serious about looking after everyone, from our customers and visitors to our staff, contractors and volunteers. We know this will impact on some members of our community, but our priority has to be keeping everyone safe.

Do I also need a vaccine pass to visit the bookbuses?

Yes, the same rules apply as outlined above.

How will I be able to use the library if I can’t visit?

Our public libraries offer a wide range of digital services for children and adults, including e-books and e-magazines, which can be accessed from the libraries, from home or from your digital device. Visit www.dunedinlibraries.govt.nz/digital-library for more details.

We're also offering a click and collect service

[Note, the library will be closed on certain days over the holiday period when the Click and Collect service will not be available. Please take this into consideration when placing your order]

Does requiring vaccine passes mean all your services return to normal?

Yes, we will be restarting our on-site public programmes, such as Storytime sessions for children, shortly. Check our events listings for details as many of our programmes only operate during school term time, and will begin again after the summer school holiday.

Are Justices of the Peace available?

Yes. This service will also resume early in 2022. Please check our events calendar for details.

Can we hold an event in the Dunningham Suite?

Yes, but there will be requirements for event organisers, including that visitors show their vaccine pass on arrival.
