Congratulations to the winners of the National Poetry Day 2021 Shape Poetry competition
Our National Poetry Day celebrations for 2021 include the Non-stop Poetic Cabaret, which has been postponed until Thursday 9th December. While we're waiting to celebrate in person, here is an opportunity for you to read the winning poems from our Shape Poetry competition.
The winners of the adult section are:
1st: Madeleine Child with Take a Body
2nd: Liz Breslin with Orange-You-Glad
3rd: Susan Wardell with Self-Portrait as a Bowl of Fruit
And our young (under 18) winners:
1st: Karuna Yang with My Hen
2nd: Lochie Grant of George Street Normal School with We Are One
3rd: Brooklyn Fahey of Grants Braes School with Tornado
Dunedin Public Libraries in partnership with Otago-Southland NZ Society of Authors would like to thank Carolyn McCurdie and Robyn Maree-Pickens for judging this competition, and Phantom National Poetry Day for sponsoring the prize money.
Thank you to all those who entered. The judges' choice was not an easy one, but it was most enjoyable!
