Peter Lim
The 2020 Dunedin Public Libraries Citation was presented to Peter Lim by Councillor Marie Laufiso during the annual volunteers' morning tea on 9th December. The presentation was supported by the DCC Waiata Group.
At the time of writing, from a scanned index of over 190,000 cards covering newspapers from 1851 to 1993 and including obituaries, biographical information and topics of local and regional interest, Peter has individually and tirelessly transcribed over 87,000 cards, representing 45% of the total. Peter's dedication to this task has been outstanding, as has been the accuracy and persistence of his work. This amazing contribution by Peter will significantly enhance access to the information in these newspaper index records for researchers and the wider Dunedin community for generations to come.
