The 2002 Dunedin Public Libraries Citation recipient was Bill Noble.
The award was presented at the library's annual Christmas morning tea for volunteers and others who had assisted the library during the year.

In recognition of his generous support over many years for library programmes, and for encouraging the development of literacy, a love of books, and reading amongst children and young adults in the Dunedin community.
Bill Noble’s support for literacy has ranged from the Books for Babies project to the Dunedin Public Libraries’ Summer Reading Programme for children aged from seven to seventeen.
He has enabled his staff to work with library staff in the delivery of successful literacy programmes over many years.
The Dunedin Public Libraries and the children of Dunedin are indebted to him for his generosity and commitment to books and reading.
